An Update From Papa Bear:

"This week has been pretty good. The nuclear physicist visited with us yesterday. He said everything is going on target. My leg sure feels good. Sayda even caught me crossing my leg underneath my other one. I hadn't been able to do that for so long. My lower leg is huge because of the lymphedema. I guess that was expected. The tiredness is getting worse. Man the treatments drain me to the point where I almost can't function. 17 down, 8 to go! Thank you for all of your prayers."

Waiting to see the doctor.

Out-running a train.

Oh, Dad. I love you so very very much. I'm so very thankful for our conversations about life and love and your outlook on things. As I've said before I hope some day to be able to think and speak like you. I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful family.

A Note From Ricardo Pumarejo:

I am sorry to learn about your father's cancer. A small amount of cancer was found in my mother's mouth about seven years ago, and I can still remember how hard that news rocked me and my family. She responded well to the radiation treatments and now her cancer is gone. God willing, your father's story will be the same.

It felt great to receive a message from your father; please pass this message along to him. I can honestly say that not a year has gone by where I haven't thought of one of the many experiences he made possible at Edinburg High School. I actually recently bombarded my girlfriend with stories of your father's plays after she arranged for us to see Nikki Rowe's production of Godspell.

As far as my life is concerned, I went to undergrad and law school at U.T. Austin, where I lived for eight years after high school. Prior to finishing law school, my sister passed away from complications related to lupus. I returned to Edinburg after law school in fall 2006. My parents are still in this area, and since moving here I have been working for an appellate judge. I will be leaving my job at the end of April, and my plan is to travel for five or six months before figuring out what's next for me career wise. If I find myself traveling through your area, I'll be sure to let you know. It would be great to see you.

Take care,

Ricardo

Mr. Call glad you liked the pictures of "Kira" oh to look that good again!
Kira does not have a boyfriend right now...she sent a "Dear John" about 4 months ago.

Note from Dago:

Dick, I am very happy to hear that you are doing better. After looking at your pictures, I think we look like brothers and not brother-in-law. You are a handsome guy. Anyway, all of us have been praying that you get better. Enjoy your time in the hospital. Before to long you will be working so hard you are going to wish you were in bed resting. We love you and all are hoping things will be just as before. You have a beautiful family. Say hi to all of them for us. I will stay in touch. As always, hope to see you all sometime in the near future.
